And the Winner is…

Welcome to the dinner—I love the hydrangea.

The winner is the lucky bidder who purchased the dinner hosted by James Farmer and Francie Hargrove at The Church of the Good Shepard auction here in Cashiers. Every year, the church hosts a silent auction, live auction, and a Bazaar to benefit the Outreach Ministry that helps the local area.

The live auction always has a mix of fabulous vacation homes located in amazing destinations and dinner parties for 8-20 people. An amazing mix of chefs, authors, designers and other talented people are hosts of the parties.

This year’s auction item that drew heavy bidding was the dinner prepared by author James Farmer and hosted at the home of Francie Hargrove. James used recipes from his books to prepare a delicious range of dishes. He has another talent—putting everyone at ease with his storytelling. Francie is the hostess with the ‘mostess.’ Combining the two ‘energies’ made for a fun, fabulous evening.

I was invited to take photos of the setting before the party began. We laughed, cooked, organized, talked, and even enjoyed a glass of champagne together—I never refuse a glass of champagne! Knowing what fun the preparation was, I can imagine the party was a smashing success.

Have a look at the party set-up and look for Francie’s house to be featured on the next house crush, too!

Champagne at the front door—love this idea.

This wonderful porch was the location for the party.

James and his assistant Lexi were busy in the kitchen.

A perfect table setting.

The cooks preparing the lovely dinner.

These biscuits from his book were covered with honey goat cheese.

The tomato and feta salad with homemade croutons looked delicious.

The chefs for the evening paused for a quick photo—they look cool as cucumbers.

James and Francie preparing for guests—I told you this was fun.

Perfect garnishes for the dishes

I love these plates!

I would love to be a guest at this party.

White hydrangea accented with greenery filled the flower vase.

Blackberries from the local farmers market added a fresh touch to the appetizers.

Bar set-up on a beautiful Faux boise table.

The bartender is getting ready—aka Shannon Hargrove.

After the evening of fun, the guests all received an autographed copy of James Farmer’s new book A Place to Call Home.
